TAG Heuer is one of the most recognised luxury watches brands in the world. They are known for their innovation and strong connection to sport and automobile racing. Within the last few decades they have developed some astonishing ultra-fast mechanical chronographs.
Heuer watch company was founded in 1860 by Edouard Heuer. His first ever watchmaking workshop was located in ST-Imier, Switzerland. The company quickly built up a reputation for quality workmanship and precision timekeeping and because of this fast-growing reputation there watches where used during the 1920’s Antwerp, Paris and Amsterdam Olympics.
The Tag Heuer Carrera was created to pay tribute to the famous Carrera Panamericana auto race, which at the time was considered the most dangerous in the world. The Carrera was the first chronograph specifically designed for professional drivers but also the modern speed junkie for that era due to its elegant and lucid design.
The Carrera was relaunched in 1996 and was first off sold as a limited edition but due to its popular demand Heuer decided to add it to their main production line. To this day, the Carrera has proven its self to be one of Tag Heuer’s centre-piece watches.
